Dragon is a young Barn Owl and former collaborator of Tytodyre. Spending much of his young adult life hanging around neotytos, he would eventually find the motivation to change his ways after nearly being killed by Magellan.
History[]
Travelers of Mac'Greer[]
Dragon made his original debut in the Travelers of Mac'Greer universe. The spinoff story A Clockwork Owl is told from Dragon's perspective.
Originally named Pacey, he was kidnapped from his nest in a raid organized by Dhaval, Tytodyre's most trusted companion. Tytodyre proposed renaming Pacey Drago, with Pacey excitedly saying it sounded like Dragon. Looking to win the owlet over, Tytodyre let him have the name Dragon.
Tytodyre plans early on to have Dragon become his successor, despite Dragon's misgivings. Dragon begrudgingly takes up the gang's title of High Tyto following Tytodyre's death.
Ga'Hoole Renaissance[]
Dragon is the youngest member of Tytodyre's cabal during their introduction in The Redemption of St. Ageolius. He feels he is forced to be in the gang as a matter of circumstance - his parents were both killed when a different cabal raided their hollow and attempted to recruit Dragon. While Dragon survived, he sustained scars and permanently impaired hearing, leading him to rely on others in Tytodyre's cabal to catch food for him.
Immediately following Tytodyre's ousting by Magellan, Magellan and Ernwise attempted to kill Dragon, who managed to escape. Crossing paths with Tytodyre while trying to find a place to settle, Dragon demands that Tytodyre assist him in flying to The Great Tree. Tytodyre agrees after much hesitation, planning to leave Dragon several miles before landfall and turning back, but both owls are captured upon their approach.
