Saint Dorothea's Academy for Young and Aspiring Nestmaid Snakes, commonly referred to as St. Dory's, is an academy located in Silverveil, on the border next to Shadow Forest, dedicated to the "education of young and aspiring nestmaid snakes to learn to serve, assist, and dedicate their lives to the service of higher creatures". It is entirely underground, and many snakes who serve at the Great Tree attended the academy for at least two semesters.
It was founded sometime before the War of the Ice Claws, by a young female nestmaid snake named Dorothea, who's family she served had been killed during the War of the Scorching Sun. She sought an audience with the Queen of Silverveil, Queen Eudora, who had decided to let her begin a project for young female snakes.
Around 1345 AFR, Dorothea had acquired twenty-three veteran nestmaids to assist her in the training of the snakes. By the next year, they had fifty-three students attending classes on the premises. However, there were only five levels then, with a sixth level being tunneled out. In the present day, there are thirty-seven levels, fifty-five instructors, and one-hundred-sixteen students.
The school had reached it's fifteenth level by the time of Dorothea's death. A statue was placed on the main level in her memory.
